RV Rental at Eagle Mountain Lake

Eagle Mountain Lake is the one people forget about — and that’s exactly why it’s worth knowing. It sits on the Fort Worth side, out past Azle, roughly a 35- to 40-minute drive southwest of our Roanoke base. It doesn’t get the crowds Grapevine and Lewisville do, which for a certain kind of weekend is the whole point.

A quieter lake with a real RV base

West Bay Marina & RV Park on Eagle Mountain Lake in Azle has full-hookup RV sites and a marina right there, so you can camp on the water and get a boat out without hauling one across three towns. It’s a straightforward, comfortable base — hookups, water access, and enough space to actually relax.

Who this trip is for

My take: pick Eagle Mountain when you want lake time without the summer-weekend circus. It’s a little farther from Roanoke than Grapevine or Lewisville, and there’s less going on off the water — but that quiet is the reason to come. If your idea of a good weekend is fishing, an easy boat day, and a campsite that isn’t shoulder-to-shoulder, this is the lake I’d steer you to. If you want dining and nightlife within walking distance, Grapevine’s a better fit.

For two couples or a family, a travel trailer or a small Class C with full hookups at West Bay is plenty. And since it’s the longest of the three lake drives from Roanoke, this is a good one to let us deliver — we’ll tow it out, set it up on your site, and pick it up, so your only job is to show up.
